Arthritis Fire BallTM

I was honoured to perform at Arthritis Society Canada’s inaugural Arthritis Fire BallTM on Nov. 12, 2022 which was a glowing success.  This gala event raised $375,000 to help the six million Canadians who live with this disease.

A Language of Birds

I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Canadian Children’s Opera Company and work alongside many talented singers and teachers.  In June 2022, we performed the musical, A Language of Birds, at the Berkeley Castle Courtyard in Toronto.

Wedding Performance

I was invited to perform at the wedding reception of Arjun Gelda. It was my first time performing live after the 2 year global pandemic.

The Learning Never Ends

As a student of music, I strive to learn from the many talented artists and teachers that walk among us and those musical giants that have come before us.

I look forward to support the industry and thrive as an artist.

My Story…

2008

Lucky Stars

I owe everything to the opportunities provided by my family.  I am truly blessed to be surrounded by a mother, father and sister who love and cherish me for who I am.

My One Thing

Like a lot of kids, I was involved in many things such as swimming, horse riding, basketball, jiu jitsu, singing and piano.

My father had me write each of these interests on separate slips of paper.  He then asked me if I had to give up one of those interests, which would it be?  I thought for a while and handed him the slip of paper that had basketball written on it.

He then asked me this same question again and again, until I was left with just one slip of paper.  On that paper was written the one thing I was not willing to give up, the one thing I am most passionate about pursuing.

It is singing.

Child of the Opera

One of my earlier singing coaches introduced me to opera.  He thought it would be a good idea if I learned to perform some popular pieces.   In 2019, I performed with the Guelph Symphony Orchestra during their summer concerts.

2019-2021

Unlearning

It was when I auditioned for the Canadian Children’s Opera Company in 2019 that I began to realize that my vocal technique was seriously flawed. I had been coached incorrectly for three years and had to now go through two difficult years of unlearning poor technique and learning how to sing again.

This was devastating news for me. Although I was discouraged to learn this, I kept telling myself to keep moving forward.

I credit my superb singing coach, Maria Thorburn, for helping me rebuild myself as a singer.

Redemption

Although I was rejected from the Canadian Children’s Opera Company in 2019, I auditioned again in 2021 and made it in this time. This was the proof I needed of my evolution as a singer.

I was a Soprano Singer of their Principal Chorus and played a lead character of Nick in their musical performance of “A Language of Birds”.
